Singer Bobby Hebb, whose tune Sunny put him on the international music map, has died after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 72.
Family members said Hebb died Tuesday morning at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, the city where Hebb was born and spent part of his career.

Harvey Fuqua (1929-2010)
Singer, songwriter and record producer Harvey Fuqua, an early mentor of Marvin Gaye, has died. Ron Brewington of the Motown Alumni Association says Fuqua died of a heart attack Tuesday at a Detroit hospital. Fuqua, an inducted member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, was 80.

Pete Quaife (1943-2010)
Pete Quaife, the original bass guitarist in The Kinks from their formation in 1961 through 1969, died June 23 of kidney failure after spending several days in a coma in a hospital in Denmark. He had been undergoing kidney dialysis for over a decade. He was 66.
Quaife played on all of the early Kinks classics, including You Really Got Me, All Day And All Of The Night, Dedicated Follower Of Fashion, A Well Respected Man and Waterloo Sunset.

Fess Parker (1924-2010)
He may not have been your typical rock & roll star (although he did have a Top 10 hit) but he was most definitely a part – a very special part – of our childhood. Fess Parker, the actor best known for playing American folk heroes Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone, has died at the age of 85.
Parker, who became a successful winery owner and real estate developer after retiring from Hollywood in the 1970's, died Thursday at his home outside Santa Barbara, California, of natural causes.

Alex Chilton, the pop hitmaker, cult icon and Memphis rock iconoclast best known as the lead singer with 1960's pop-soul act the Box Tops and 1970's power-pop act Big Star, died Wednesday at a hospital in New Orleans after suffering a reported heart attack. The singer, songwriter and guitarist was 59.
Chilton had been complaining about his health earlier Wednesday and was taken by paramedics from his home to the emergency room but could not be revived.

Teddy Pendergrass (1950-2010)
Teddy Pendergrass, who rose to fame as lead singer of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes in the 1970's before embarking on a successful solo career, has died at the age of 59.
Pendergrass passed away at Bryn Mawr Hospital in suburban Philadelphia on January 13 from complications following surgery for colon cancer. His son said his father underwent surgery eight months ago and had "a difficult recovery."

British rock and roll guitarist Mick Green passed away on January 11 at the age of 65. Some music fans may remember Green as the influential lead guitarist with two bands in the early sixties; Johnny Kidd & The Pirates before joining the Dakotas, the backing band for Billy J. Kramer.
But he was more than that. He was a whole lot more than that.
